Is it worth to improve google image search to get more traffic? the answer is yes and no.

Yes if you plan to make a new website that should bring traffic from image , and that's mean your site will have lots of image that will stick the people.

And , no if you do have site that have traffic from text or detail search , and , to fix all these images to comply to the rules sometimes take time , and cause more effort to get just fraction of traffic. 

Anyway , there are tips to improve google image search , if you care to do.

First ,allow robots to get to the image folder , right robots.txt to allow will give you way to get  traffic from images search.

Make your images large - some people recommend making images you want to rank high in searches at least 10,000 square pixels. An image that is larger than 333 pixels wide by 334 pixels tall would work.
some expert said and there were only two images with less than 10,000 square pixels on the first results page.

Put your keywords in the file name - If you want your image to rank high for the term "swine infuenza"name it "swine influenza.jpg". 

Make sure to specify the width and the height of the image.

Put your keywords in the Alt tags ,the alt tags are very important for the crawler (which is not human ) to follow the image and collect right information (crawler can not interprete image like human eye). This is the first thing to do. Alt tags are designed to provide alternative text when images cannot be displayed. They should describe what the image is about.

Put your keywords in the image title tag - Many people don’t realize that there is a title tag associated with images. The text in the title tag is shown when the user mouses over the image. Put the same text in the title tag that you put in the Alt tag.

Put your keywords in the text surrounding the image ,a mere single descriptive text that includes your keywords below each image can dramaticly improve rank in image searches.

Optimize your page for the keywords -" relevant image for the page"  Include the keywords in the title tags, meta tags, header tags and the body copy of your page. Keyword density of the page that the image is on is very important.

Create an image site map .
An image site map is a great way to get links that come directly into your images and it lets the search engines know more about what the images are about.

Increase the authority of your web site - Images on pages with high Page Rank tend to rank higher in image searches. Build links into the page where the image is located and both your organic and image search rankings should improve.
